Below is the Night Off signup screen as the user sees it on iOS. The SMS consent checkbox sits inside its own labelled card with the SMS-only consent text and is clearly marked (Optional). The Send Verification Code button is enabled regardless of whether the consent box is checked — SMS opt-in is not a condition of signing up or using the service.
For additional clarity, here is the same signup screen reproduced inline below using identical HTML/CSS components to the live app:
Night Off, operated by Todd Creek Capital, LLC, sends sitter availability notifications when a family posts a babysitting request. If you are a sitter on a family's list, you will receive a text when that family is looking to book a sitter for a specific date and time. If you are a parent, you will receive a confirmation when a sitter claims one of your open nights.
Night Off does not send marketing or promotional messages. Messages are event-driven: you receive one only when a connected family or sitter takes an action that is relevant to you.
You opt in to SMS by entering your phone number on the Night Off signup screen and checking the dedicated, optional SMS consent box, which reads: "(Optional) I agree to receive SMS messages from Night Off about babysitting coordination. You can sign up without this and opt in later. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel."
SMS opt-in is not required to sign up for or use Night Off. The consent box is unchecked by default, the Send Verification Code button is enabled regardless of whether the box is checked, and a user may complete signup, verify their phone number, and use the service without ever opting in to coordination SMS. The phone-number verification code itself is a one-time security message tied to account creation, not part of the recurring messaging program.
This SMS consent is also a standalone affirmation. It is not bundled with any other agreement: acceptance of the Terms of Service and acknowledgement of the Privacy Policy and SMS Terms appear as separate, informational text below the consent box. Consent to receive coordination SMS from Night Off is given solely by checking the dedicated, optional box.
Message frequency varies. You receive a message only when a connected family posts a babysitting request, when you (or another sitter on the list) claim a request, or when a request is cancelled. Most users receive between zero and ten messages per week. Msg & data rates may apply.
Reply HELP at any time to receive help information. Reply STOP to unsubscribe; you will receive a confirmation that you have been unsubscribed and you will not receive further messages from Night Off until you opt in again.
Your phone number and name are used only to coordinate babysitting requests between connected families and sitters. Night Off does not sell or rent user data. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.
